The finals day of the Hurley Pro Sunset Beach was met with pleasant conditions — and plenty of open face — making it the perfect stage for the final showdown on the North Shore of Oahu. But two surfers rose above the rest, putting it on rail, finding barrels, and ultimately coming out on top… of the podium. Last year’s WSL World Champion Filipe Toledo trailed San Clemente’s Griffin Colapinto for most of the final, until they engaged in a wave-for-wave battle in the last half of the heat. But it was Filipe’s 9.47 that wowed the crowds (and the judges), giving him the coveted win at Sunset Beach.
The women’s final was equally as nail-biting, with USA’s Caroline Marks battling it out to Australian Molly Picklum. Ultimately 10.90 heat total that lead her to victory.
Thanks for tuning into all the electric action at this year’s Hurley Pro Sunset Beach and congratulations again to Filipe Toledo and Molly Picklum.
